Julianna Rose Mauriello Biography
Julianna Rose Mauriello (born May 26, 1991 in Irvington, New York) is an American actress. She starred in LazyTown, and has appeared in various Broadway musicals. Mauriello has performed in a series of shows, including Gypsy: A Musical Fable, starring alongside Bernadette Peters, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Her first appearance on Broadway was during the 2002–2003 run of Oklahoma!

She played the character of Stephanie on LazyTown, filmed in Iceland. Her performances in the program earned her a nomination for a 2006 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series.”

Mauriello is an honor student at the Professional Performing Arts School. She has appeared in commercials and voiceovers, and is an avid dancer, taking classes in ballet, jazz, tap and Irish stepdancing. She has also been involved in gymnastics. Mauriello is able to speak Icelandic, from her time spent in Iceland on the set of LazyTown.

In 2006, Mauriello appeared, as herself, in the direct-to-video film Hip Hop Homeroom: Hip Hop Kids Math. She was cast as the leading role of Pyper in the feature film A Fix.
Mauriello resides in New York City.

Always singing, Julianna appeared as a child in Party Scene of The Nutcracker at SUNY Purchase, asleep under the Christmas tree. A summer at French Woods Performing Arts Festival cemented her affection for the stage, leading to an introduction to prominent theatrical agent, Nancy Carson, and her first professional role as Li’l Titch in the 2002 revival of another Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, Oklahoma!

Following her first professional stage experience, further appearances included Gypsy: A Musical Fable with Bernadette Peters, understudying several roles including Baby June, and New York City Center Encores!®, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. In addition to her stage work, she has made commercials and specialty films, working for Volvo, Wendy’s, AstraZeneca (Nexium), and Disney Entertainment.

In 2003 the show’s creator, Icelander Magnus Scheving, selected Julianna for her unique mix of talent and energy as an ideal nucleus for the show’s positive messages.

In 2006 in connection with her work on LazyTown, she was selected by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as a nominee for its Daytime Emmy Award, “Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series”. The world continues to reward LazyTown’s upbeat message with many accolades and awards, the most recent being a BAFTA award in the ‘International’ category by the British Academy of Film & Television Arts at its 2006 Children’s’ BAFTA.

Julianna lives in New York City and is an honor student at Professional Performing Arts School and is an avid dancer, taking classes in ballet, jazz, tap and Irish step. She has two sisters and a brother and loves playing Stephanie on LazyTown!

She loves riding her razor scooter all over the city to movies, bookstores and just to hang out with her friends!
